I will be teaching a six week course at the Nashville Jazz Workshop that begins June 13th. It is monday nights from 8 - 10. We will work through your songs with Lori Meachem accompanying on piano discussing crafting the style and basic treatment/arrangement of the song, pulling the message of the song, being authentic in delivery and overall perfecting the performance of the song.

Song & Soul - singer's retreat focuses on improvisation and authenticity May 13 - 15

Soul and Song in May is a totally unique and exciting experience for singers. During the weekend retreat, we will build a tight community sharing our voices, taking in the beautiful Tennessee hills, eating fabulous meals and workshopping together. We will spend a lot of time in Singing Circle - a series of improvisational “singing games” where we (vocally) become the instrumentation for one another as we explore sound, scales, creativity, range, harmony and hard groove, deciding when to take the lead and how to support others when they do. Defining our strengths and weaknesses within the exercises helps us name and claim our authentic voice. Intermittently, we will discuss the risks we took and the ones we didn’t take, and work through our hesitations.

My co-facilitator is vocalist and writer Jennifer Hamady joining us from New York. She is “The Queen of unblocking the blocks”, creativity columnist for Psychology Today and the author of “The Art of Singing – Discovering and Finding Your True Voice”. With her, we will go deeper into the nuance of delivery conviction, commitment, and vulnerability so our voice is an expression of our truest self.

The 2,500 sq ft cabin/lodge in the country is rustic and loaded with charm. It sits above a five-acre lake on 400 acres of dense blooming trees and open fields for hiking, contemplating and drawing inspiration. It sleeps 10 women on a first come, first served basis. Cost is $350 for 16 hours of workshop, accommodations and meals deliciously prepared by our personal chef.

Singing Circle Nashville is held at the Global Education Center (4822 Charlotte Pike) each sunday night at 7:30 pm. Facilitator Annie Sellick provides a set of "singing games" each week that allow vocalists to create (with only their voices) improvised music together in an atmosphere of fun, support, groove, learning and exploration.

This week of Radio "Street of Dreams" (CDBaby, itunes) hopped to #36 on the Jazzweek Charts with four more weeks to go It is #14 on the College Radio Charts Top 40.
A fan tells me the CD has been played on XM radio the show host mentioned the high energy of our shows :)

I personally am looking forward to seeing/hearing the concert tonight in Christchurch, New Zealand where my husband (guitarist Pat Bergeson) begins a tour with Madeleine Peyroux, Melody Gardot and Diana Krall. After Tramping the Abel Tasman Coastline and the Kepler Track in the Fijordlands together, he'll move on to Australia and me, back to the states to play in the southwest.
